End the coverup - release the names
MP Ashton reacted to the news of Library & Archives Canada refusal to make public the names of 900 alleged Nazis in the Deschenes report
It’s beyond shameful that this government is choosing to shield alleged Nazis identified by the Deschenes Commission who were allowed to enter Canada.
This is on top of Canada’s refusal to consult Jewish organizations as well as Polish and Ukrainian organizations who represent victims of the Holocaust and have called for the list of alleged Nazis to be made public.
To announce this the same week as Veterans Week highlights the rank hypocrisy. At the same time as the government is honouring Veterans, it’s shielding the very same people many veterans in this country fought against.
Canada should never have been a safe haven for the perpetrators of the Holocaust.
Every day these names get shielded is another insult to its victims and survivors.
