Federal government defeated on confidence vote
March 25th, 2011 - 6:28pm
Today, a non-confidence vote supported by NDP MP Niki Ashton (Churchill) passed in the House of Commons. The historic vote means that the 40th Parliament will be dissolved and we will enter a federal election.
“This Government is not responding to the needs of Northerners and Canadians,” said Ashton. “The government is in contempt of Parliament for not providing the information we need to do to represent Canadians. We tried working with Government. But instead, the Government chose to provoke an election." said Ashton.
Constituents in need of assistance can continue to contact Ashton’s offices as usual during the election.
