Ashton Elected Chair of Status of Women Committee of Parliament

OTTAWA– Niki Ashton MP (Churchill) was elected to chair the Status of Women committee of Parliament. It is one of five committees chaired by opposition members.
“I am very honoured to have been elected as chair and look forward to working with the committee in order to best bring forward the issues faced by women across Canada,” said Ashton.
Ashton noted that the Status of Women committee deals with important issues affecting Northern and Aboriginal women as well as women across the country and the ongoing hard work to reach equality in Canada.
